Ingredients

  • large white marshmallows
  • 2 tbsp white sugar for coating
  • 1 small square dark chocolate about 10g
  • wooden skewers or lollipop sticks

Instructions

  • Cut the marshmallows: cut each marshmallow in half across the middle to make two short pieces with flat sides. The flat surface will be the ghost’s “head.”
  • Shape the body: snip four tiny cuts at the bottom of each marshmallow to form wavy “legs.” Gently spread them apart for a floating look.
  • Add the stick: insert a skewer or lollipop stick gently through the middle of the ghost’s “legs,” pushing halfway up.
  • Coat with sugar: pour 2tbsp white sugar onto a small plate and press the cut (flat) side of each marshmallow into it to coat evenly. The sugar hides the sticky cut and adds a sparkly glow.
  • Melt the chocolate: place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds and stir. If not melted, then repeat in 5-10 second bursts until melted and glossy.
  • Draw the faces: dip a toothpick or skewer into the melted chocolate and paint two eyes and a mouth on each marshmallow. Let them sit for 10 minutes (or chill 5 minutes) until the chocolate hardens.

Notes

1. Make-Ahead Magic: Make up to a day early; store in an airtight container at room temperature. Avoid the fridge — humidity makes marshmallows sticky.
2. Flavour Twist: Roll coated ghosts in coconut flakes for a “snow ghost” version.
3. Decoration Fun: Add food colouring to make green or purple ghosts!
4. Party Idea: Use them to top cupcakes, hot chocolate, or fruit platters for an instant Halloween upgrade.
