Chinese Hot Oil Noodles (Using Dumpling Wrappers!)

This quick version swaps handmade noodles for soft, chewy dumpling wrappers that cook in minutes.Each bite soaks up the garlicky, spicy, and tangy sauce, made with sizzling hot oil that fills your kitchen with an irresistible aroma.

Ingredients

  • 6 dumpling wrappers
  • minced garlic
  • spring onion
  • coriander
  • 1 tbsp hot oil heat it just before pouring!
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp light soy sauce
  • ½ tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp vinegar

Instructions

  • Prep the noodles: Soak dumpling wrappers in water for about 2 mins until soft, then pull them apart.
  • Cook: cook wrappers in hot water for 1–2 minutes until tender, then rinse in cold water and drain well.
  • Make the sauce: in a heatproof bowl, add 'noodles', salt, chilli powder, garlic, spring onion, and coriander. Pour hot oil over and finish with light soy sauce, dark soy sauce and vinegar.
  • Mix and serve: toss everything together and enjoy!

Notes

  • Spicy boost: Add extra chilli flakes or drizzle more chilli oil.
  • Protein option: Top with a soft-boiled or fried egg, or blanched veggies.
  • Nutty touch: Add a drizzle of sesame oil for a rich aroma.
  • Crunch factor: Sprinkle fried shallots or crushed peanuts.
  • Flavour upgrade: Use chilli crisp instead of chilli powder for extra depth.
