Spooky Halloween Eyeball Drink

If Halloween had a flavour, this might be it — sweet, cold, and just creepy enough to make everyone do a double-take before taking a sip.
This drink is all about illusion and fun. What looks like eyeballs floating in your glass are actually soft lychees with juicy blueberries stuffed inside. The white flesh of the lychee looks like the eyeball, and the dark blueberry forms the pupil — it’s surprisingly realistic (and a little unsettling in the best way).
I love how ridiculously easy this recipe is. There’s no cooking, no blender, no mess — just a bit of gentle assembling and a whole lot of Halloween magic. You only need a handful of ingredients, most of which you can find in any grocery store or regular supermarket.
Once you drop those “eyeballs” into a glass filled with ice and your favourite purple or red juice — grape, cranberry, or apple & blackcurrant juice — it transforms instantly into something out of a Halloween party.
The best part? It takes just 5 minutes from start to finish, yet it looks like something you spent all afternoon crafting for your haunted house spread.
Ingredients (1 serving)
- 4–5 canned lychees
- 4–5 blueberries
- ½ cup grape flavour sparkling juice drink (grape, cranberry, or apple & blackcurrant juice)
- ½ cup ice cubes

Instructions
1. Prepare the lychee “eyeballs”
Start by draining your canned lychees. If they’re packed in syrup, give them a quick rinse under cool water to remove the extra sweetness — this also helps them grip the blueberry better.
Pat each lychee gently with a paper towel until it’s no longer slippery. This makes stuffing much easier.
Next, take one blueberry and push it gently into the hole of a lychee where the pit used to be. The blueberry should sit snugly inside, like a pupil in an eye. Adjust it a little so the darker side of the blueberry faces outwards — that’s what gives it that eerie “eyeball” stare.
Repeat until you’ve made 4–5 of these creepy little eyes. Place them on a small plate and keep them chilled in the fridge for a few minutes while you prepare the drink — it helps them stay firm and hold their shape better.
❤️ Tip: If the lychees are tearing easily, choose ones that are slightly firmer or not overly ripe. You can also freeze them for 5 minutes before stuffing — they’ll be much easier to handle.

2. Assemble the spooky glass
Grab your favourite clear glass — the clearer the better, because that’s how you show off the eyeballs.
Fill it halfway with ice cubes. Then, carefully drop in your lychee eyeballs one by one. Some will float, some will sink — that’s the spooky part! The contrast of the white lychee and the dark “pupil” inside looks just like something watching you from the depths.
Now, slowly pour the juice you chose over the ice and eyeballs. You’ll see the colours swirl and ripple through the glass — it’s mesmerising.
3. Garnish and serve
Once everything’s in the glass, give it one gentle stir so the eyeballs spread out naturally.
Add a few extra blueberries or a whole lychee on top for garnish.
Finally, pop in a straw, dim the lights, and serve it cold. The eyeballs will move slightly with the ice, looking eerily alive — perfect for Halloween parties or movie nights.
❤️ Tip: Want to impress your guests? Add a tiny piece of dry ice before serving. The fog effect makes it look like the drink is brewing straight from a witch’s cauldron — just make sure it fully evaporates before drinking!

Extra Tips
1. Colour Choices
Cranberry juice gives that classic bloody red. Grape juice gives a haunted purple tone. Choose whichever you like.
2. Make-Ahead Magic
You can make the lychee “eyeballs” up to a day ahead. Keep them in a sealed container in the fridge until serving time.
3. Flavour Upgrade
Add a splash of soda water for fizz, or a squeeze of fresh lime for tang. You can also infuse the juice with mint leaves for a refreshing twist.
4. Alcohol Version
Add a splash of vodka, white rum, or lychee liqueur for a spooky cocktail.
5. Presentation Idea
Serve the drink in mini potion bottles, mason jars, or transparent cups with a smoky background for photos. Stick a fake spider or candy eye on the rim for a fun detail.
